Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management FY 2021 Budget and FY 2022 Budget Request 

The Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) is focused on minimizing the environmental impacts of fossil fuels while working toward a net-zero carbon economy. FECM manages a diverse research, development, demonstration, and deployment (RDD&D) portfolio, which includes Programs in Carbon Management and Resource Sustainability; as well as funding for the operations, infrastructure, and R&D at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). 

The Fiscal Year (FY22) 2022 Budget Request for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) is guided by FECM’s commitment to addressing our Nation’s climate, energy, and environmental challenges. The FY22 budget supports RDD&D in Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), Advanced Energy and Hydrogen Systems, Crosscutting Research, Carbon Dioxide Removal, Mineral Sustainability, and more. The budget also supports advancements in Natural Gas Technologies and NETL Research, Operations, and Infrastructure.
