Madison Fischman is a rising senior at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she is majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering. This summer, Madison will be researching the various causes of degradation in a Reversible Solid Oxide Fuel Cell, based out of DOE HQ Office of Advanced Energy Systems. Reversible Solid Oxide Fuel Cells are being assessed as a new source of energy and hydrogen, that produces fewer greenhouse gases.

Madison has always been interested in STEM, which she attributes to being involved in after school programs at a young age. Those programs not only fostered her curiosity in science, but also showed a connection between creativity and scientific intellect. Bridging that gap is something Madison is passionate about, which also connects to her appreciation of learning from various perspectives and departments during her time at MLEF. She enjoys being creative outside of the professional atmosphere, as well as hiking and reading.
