MLEF Fellow Spotlight Summer 2021
Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management
August 5, 2021Jada Sherman is a senior at North Carolina A&T State University majoring in agriculture and environmental systems. Jada is based out of NETL and is assisting with determining the economic and environmental cost of leaving abandoned oil wells plugged or unplugged. She is researching methane emissions and materials needed to plug a well, while also consulting with a DOE Life Cycle Assessment Specialist on the project.
Jada was excited to be a part of MLEF, as she wanted to learn more about the energy industry and how the DOE is implementing renewable energy. Her passion for climate change action is what inspired her professional aspirations. She intends to work in the fields of environmental justice, conservation and sustainability after graduation. Ultimately, she plans to run for congressional office. It is important to Jada that as an African American woman, she will represent and fight for marginalized communities. In her free time, Jada loves birding!
