National Synchrotron Light Source II
Take a tour of the National Synchrotron Light Source II experiment floor. Floor tours are for ages 10 and up. Kids can participate in hands-on science fun at our interactive stations! Become a Junior Operator when you try our model synchrotron. Look in our microscopes, play with water rockets, see a toy solar car in action, build a candy crystal, or watch exciting demonstrations with liquid nitrogen.
* Tour starts in Berkner Hall Room B. Bus transportation is provided to the National Synchrotron Light Source; arrive by 2:30 pm for last bus.

'Brilliant' Light with Tiny Electronics (SHOW)
Tiny electronic parts are a big deal when it comes to developing today’s technology, including highly specialized detectors at machines like NSLS-II. Join scientist and electrical engineer Shaorui Li for an informative and engaging talk about how engineers use microelectronics to build advanced detectors that can reveal the chemical composition, atomic structure, and magnetic properties of materials like batteries, proteins, and solar cells.
