Ari Gerstman is the Acting Deputy Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. He previously served as program manager for the State Energy Program in the State and Community Energy Programs Office. In this role, Gerstman oversaw the implementation of energy programming and planning for both residents and businesses, as well as the disbursement of millions of dollars in funding grants to states. He also supported the Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains Office (MESC) in the development of a novel partnership program between MESC and state governments that provides grants to vehicle manufacturers.
Prior to joining DOE, Ari was the Associate Director for Policy and Compliance for the District of Columbia’s Department of Energy and Environment. Throughout his career, Gerstman has led key energy initiatives, coordinating across federal, state and local governments as well as with local utilities.
Gerstman earned his MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Palmer Scholar, and a Bachelors in Latin from Brown University.
