PROJECT OBJECTIVE
SoCal Edge is a regional initiative to accelerate investments in next-generation building technologies, leveraging DOE research to identify market-ready best-in-class solutions and match them with property owners committed to innovation.
Participating technology companies agree to provide property owners with financial incentives to induce the property owners to pilot their technology in at least one building. In exchange, participating property owners agree to carry out the pilot, measure the results, and scale up deployment to additional sites if the pilot is successful. SoCal Edge staff will provide project management and technical support from start to finish.
The overarching objective is to create a replicable transparent process for taking technologies from pilot to portfolio, and ultimately to establish Los Angeles as the leader in the deployment of next-generation building technologies.
PROJECT IMPACT
By accelerating market adoption of super-efficient building technologies, SoCal Edge will:
- Create a streamlined replicable model for property owners to access new technologies
- Make Los Angeles’ buildings more resilient and competitive
- Attract more high tech companies to Los Angeles
- Support local governments and utilities in achieving their energy and water goals
