Dana Mitchell is a Technology Manager at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) with an emphasis on feedstock supply and logistics. Before joining BETO, Dana worked at the USDA Forest Service, Southern Research Station, Forest Operations Research Unit where she was the Unit’s Project Leader. Her research focused on forest engineering topics, such as production rates and costs, system logistics, and biomass characterization. In her current position, Dana works with her colleagues in BETO and in collaboration with other federal agencies as well as national laboratories, universities, and private industry to help reduce our country’s dependence on foreign oil and to advance research in biotechnology and biomanufacturing.
