METAL (CU, AL) CARBON NANOTUBE COMPOSITE WIRES FOR ENERGY EFFICIENT MOTORS
University of Central Florida – Orlando, FL
Metal (Cu, Al)/Carbon Nanotube (CNT) composites will be further developed to better understand the conduction mechanisms of hybrid materials made of metal (Cu, Al) and CNTs and the relationships between interfacial microstructures and the resultant electrical and thermal conductivities. This information will be used to design and optimize a material processing method to produce metal/CNT wires with electrical and thermal conductivities that are more than 50% greater than that of pure metal wires, which is a 33% reduction in stator losses.
