What is your favorite element on the periodic table? Give us your best answer for a chance to win a special tour of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory for yourself and/or your entire science class for local winners, or custom periodic tables for national winners.

Two winning classes and two Grand Prize individual winners will be selected! One high school class from the Bay Area with the most and best answers will be chosen for a special visit to Berkeley Lab (to be arranged with your teacher). Another high school class from outside the Bay Area will be selected to receive a set of custom-printed Berkeley Lab periodic tables. The two Grand Prize winners, and an accompanying parent or guardian, will get a special behind-the-scenes tour of element-discovery historic sites and active element research sites.

Entries must include written text (100 words max) and an accompanying visual component (e.g., drawing, photo, illustration). Answers will be judged on creativity and scientific soundness, but classes with more participation increase their chances. So tell your classmates!

Deadline for entry: Friday, December 6, 2019, midnight PST

Winners will be announced Friday, December 13 by 5 p.m. on Twitter @BerkeleyLab.
