According to the DOE’s most recent liftoff report regarding Offshore Wind deployment, the market currently finds itself at a critical inflection point. Offshore wind presents a very promising source of renewable energy for the country, especially in light of the urgency to restructure our energy portfolio to meet the 2050 net-zero emission targets. Investing in wind complements other clean sources of energy, supporting grid reliability and resource diversity, making this source a promising area of investment and a powerful resource to tap into for clean energy.
Originally announced in April 2024 at the International Partnering Forum in New Orleans, the Pathways to Commercial Liftoff: Offshore Wind report outlines how the U.S. offshore wind industry can play a critical role in both near- and long-term decarbonization of the U.S. energy system.

VertueLab put on a Portland Fuel Event 2023, where Cascadia Cleantech Accelerator companies showcased their technologies while celebrating recent strides made in the Climate Tech space and offered a chance for industry partners, community members, and entrepreneurs to network.
The Northwest Cleantech Innovation Network (NWCIN), a collaborative initiative between VertueLab, CleanTech Alliance, and the University of Washington's Washington Clean Energy Testbeds, has leveraged a series of grants from the Office of Technology Transitions’ (OTT) Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC) to support the commercialization of early-stage cleantech startups across the Northwestern U.S. and Western Canada. Starting with a $50,000 award in 2020, and later receiving nearly $1 million in 2021, the network has expanded its offerings to include the Cascadia CleanTech Accelerator, Federal Funding Assistance program, Lab2Launch, and the Cleantech Hardware Innovation Prototyping (CHIP) program. To date, NWCIN has aided 36 companies in creating over 140 jobs, developing 44 prototypes, executing 33 demonstration projects, securing 9 patents, and filing an additional 17 patent applications, showcasing the significant impact of EPIC funding on regional cleantech innovation and startup support.
