OTT Releases Energy Storage Grand Challenge: Energy Storage Market Report 

The Office of Technology Transitions announced the publication of the Energy Storage Grand Challenge (ESGC) Energy Storage Market Report, a comprehensive review of the state of the art and marketplace potential of new energy storage technologies for domestic and global markets. The report provides a portrait of the opportunities and challenges present in the emergent energy storage industry, as well as technology- and application- specific analyses.

The ESGC Energy Storage Market Report supplements the Energy Storage Grand Challenge Roadmap released today by the Department of Energy, and supports the department-wide, full-spectrum approach to the development and maturation of energy storage technologies, embodied by the ESGC slogan of “Innovate Here, Make Here, Deploy Everywhere.”

OTT Publishes Energy I-Corps Annual Report 

Last week, OTT released the FY 2020 Energy I-Corps Annual Report. The Energy I-Corps program, a key OTT initiative, is an intensive two-month training program where National Lab researchers are paired with industry mentors to define technology value propositions, conduct customer discovery interviews, and evaluate potential market applications for their exciting DOE-supported technologies. 

This year was highly successful, with promising increases in key areas, including over $83 million in follow-on funding, more than 60 licenses for new technologies, and 12 new ventures launched from Energy I-Corps technologies.

Wow, what a year 2020 has been! Amidst the changes and uncertainty, the OTT team has dedicated itself to fostering partnerships and bringing awareness to DOE-powered innovations that advance transformative, impactful technologies.
