Call for Abstracts: Future Markets Workshop on Flexibility

As consumer demands and grid technologies evolve, electricity markets are shifting from compensating energy production to also rewarding flexibility. The Office of Energy Policy and Systems Analysis (EPSA) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Seibel Energy Institute will host a workshop on July 26, 2017 in Washington, DC to explore issues on flexibility in power systems and markets. We are seeking ideas on innovations in electricity markets, finance, economics, or operations that would greatly enhance the ability to supply or acquire flexibility.

Interested parties will be able to submit abstracts and register at the event portal. Abstracts rated highly for originality, applicability, and potential benefit will be invited to offer presentations at the workshop. We invite you to join this effort to explore market transformations that enable the 21st century grid.

EPSA delivers data-driven analysis to DOE leadership on existing and prospective energy-related policies. This workshop will provide input that will help identify areas for future analysis and engagement.

The Siebel Energy Institute is a global consortium for innovative and collaborative energy research dedicated to advancing the science of smart energy and accelerating advancements in the safety, security, reliability, efficiency, and environmental integrity of energy and cyber-physical systems.
