Dan Kaim

Dan Kaim joined the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Indian Energy as an engineer in September 2024. Duty-stationed in Arvada, Colorado, Dan serves as a technical project officer supporting the administration of financial assistance awards to American Indian Nations, Alaska Native Villages, and Tribal and intertribal organizations.

Prior to joining the Office of Indian Energy team, Dan spent 8 years in a variety of roles with the Division of Energy and Mineral Development, working on Tribal energy grants as well as direct technical assistance to Tribes. In his most recent role, Dan spent 4 years managing the National Indian Oil & Gas, Energy, and Minerals System (NIOGEMS). NIOGEMS is a software system provided to Tribes for understanding, assessing, and developing their energy and mineral resources.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Dan moved to Colorado for college in 2014. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 2016. Prior to that, Dan served 4 years as a cavalry scout in the 82nd Airborne Division, with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Throughout his professional career, he has found great meaning in working with Tribes to improve the lives of their members through the development of their energy resources.
