Industrial Training Assessment Centers ITAC Expansion Selectees

Selections for the Expanded Industrial Training and Assessment Center (ITAC) Program

Selections for Negotiation of Awards to Expand Clean Energy and Manufacturing Job Training and Support Sustainable Manufacturing

The Industrial Training and Assessment Center (ITAC) Program provides hands-on job training for clean energy careers while helping small and medium sized manufacturers (SMMs) save energy, improve performance, and reduce emissions. These programs, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, help small businesses save money and expand opportunities for communities to save energy and pursue high-quality clean energy careers. Selectees from this solicitation include labor unions, community and technical colleges, trade schools, and apprenticeship readiness providers.

The solicitation was announced in February 2024. DOE announced the selection of 21 projects on July 29, 2024, and two additional selections announced on December 10, 2024.

Overview

Over more than four decades, the ITAC Program (also known as the Industrial Assessment Centers Program, or IAC Program) has provided more than 21,000 assessments at SMMs, which comprise more than 90% of the nation’s manufacturing entities. The Round 2 ITACs will expand the ITAC model to SMMs in more states and communities across the country, while training 4,000+ students, apprentices, and incumbent manufacturing workers for quality careers that do not necessarily require a four-year college degree. These selections both establish new ITACs and provide planning grants to selectees to plan for creating future ITACs.

See the map and following project descriptions for each selectee below. DOE’s Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC) manages the ITAC Program. Learn more about the ITAC program by visiting the MESC website
