Lisa Peterson is on loan to the Arctic Energy Office from the Office of Nuclear Energy, where she is the Deputy Director in the Budget Oversight Office. She will be with the Arctic Energy Office from January 2024 – January 2025.  

She is involved in the funding strategy/policy of emerging and existing nuclear energy technologies for Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Nuclear Energy HQ/Operations Offices/Laboratories/Contractors, particularly in securing and spending Congressional Appropriations in accordance with applicable federal laws and regulations.   

Lisa started her career with the DOE in 2007 as a Budget Analyst in the Idaho Operations Office and has since worked in Washington D.C. for the budget offices of the Office of Science and the Office of Fossil Energy, and spent many years in the Budget Formulation and External Coordination offices within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. Her career has provided experience in promoting priorities for many DOE portfolios, defending the budget, and meeting with stakeholders. Much of her time has been spent negotiating acceptable outcomes among multiple parties of Congressional Staff, the Office of Management and Budget, and DOE leadership to achieve common goals of the Department of Energy through budgetary foresight and implementation to deliver beneficial and needed scientific/technological breakthroughs.  

Lisa received her B.B.A. in Accounting from Idaho State University and a Master of Natural Resources from Virginia Tech.
