Brookhaven Teacher Training: Exploring Proteins With a New Light

Brookhaven National Laboratory is hosting a teacher training, Exploring Proteins with a New Light, July 1–3, 2019. The training is centered on the applications in diffraction and protein crystallography and the development of student research projects at the National Synchrotron Light Source-II (NSLS-II). Upon completion of the training, teachers will receive 22 hours in-service credits. A nominal fee of $180 US for teachers and $40 US for students will be charged, which includes daily lunch and refreshments.

High school biology, chemistry, and research teachers are invited to apply. Teachers may bring a maximum of two students to accompany them during training. Alternately, teachers may participate with a colleague from their school. A maximum of six teacher-student groups or teacher-teacher groups will be accepted. Students must be 15 years at the start of the program. Selected teams will receive additional information regarding payment and training.
