Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) has released a report entitled Improving the Estimated Cost of Sustained Power Interruptions to Electricity Customers. Funded by OE’s Transmission Permitting and Technical Assistance (TPTA) Division, the report presents an update to LBNL’s 2006 estimate of the cost of power interruptions to U.S. electricity customers. Primary enhancements are the use of reliability metrics and a mix of interruption durations and frequencies, updated customer damage data, and information on customers who have installed backup generators.
