The Office of Management supports many leadership responsibilities for the Department of Energy (DOE), providing support for project and contract management and other administrative functions.  For example, the office oversees more than $22 billion in annual contract obligations and $2 billion in financial assistance obligations. It supports the management of the Department's multi-billion dollar project portfolio, and provides the Secretary of Energy and senior DOE Managers with the efficient processing of Executive correspondence, Directives and Freedom of Information Act requests (FOIA).

The office is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Department's Headquarters facilities and has been a leader in various energy reduction and recycling initiatives.  For example, the current Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) has reduced energy consumption at Headquarters, with secondary results being cost savings and emissions reductions.  These savings are in the facility operations as well as support services.  Both the Forrestal and Germantown buildings have received the ENERGY STAR® designation for low utility usage in electricity, gas and steam, designating that they are among the top 25% of facilities in the country for energy performance.

The Office of Management has a challenging mission in these changing times and is working hard to support the Department in its many managerial and operational areas.
