
Nathan Kelly joined the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Indian Energy as an engineer in September 2024. Duty-stationed in Driggs, Idaho, he supports Indian Tribes, Alaska Native Villages, and Tribal and intertribal organizations in realizing their energy goals.
Before joining the Office of Indian Energy, Nathan worked as an energy efficiency engineer for the Bonneville Power Administration, supporting efficiency projects with public utilities and Tribes throughout the Northwest. Recently, with the Bonneville Power Administration, he served as the technical lead for the residential sector, where he directed the development of centralized heat pump water heaters, helped advance high-performance heat pumps for space heating, and acted as the technical liaison for new and emerging technologies in the energy efficiency field.
Nathan was born and raised in New Mexico and holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Montana State University.
