Electric Vehicle Initiative for Tribal Nations

Tuesday, April 4, 3 p.m.

U.S. Department of Transportation, DOE, and the Joint Office for Energy and Transportation will showcase the Electric Vehicle Initiative and highlight the funding and technical assistance resources for tribes, tribal communities, and businesses. The EV initiative, coordinated through White House Council on Native American Affairs, includes participation from 10 federal agencies.

Promoting and Protecting Native American Entrepreneurship

Tuesday, April 4, 3 p.m.

Representative from several federal agencies, including DOE, will lead a discussion on three different initiatives supporting Native American entrepreneurship: (1) the Buy-Indian Act and its new thresholds; (2) the Indian Energy Purchase Preference, which includes discussion on implementing the provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 that affords a preference to be given to Tribal sources of energy and energy products for DOD, DOE, and GSA; and (3) new proposed regulations for the Indian Arts and Crafts Board.

Clean Energy Deployment in Carbon Management and Critical Minerals

Thursday, April 6, 10 a.m.

The DOE Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, and Office of Congressional Affairs will discuss funding pathways and resources that exist to help tribes and Alaska Natives meaningfully participate in the clean energy economy as it relates to carbon management and critical minerals. 

Tribal Energy Sovereignty Capital Planning Considerations: Access to Capital and Finance Options

Thursday, April 6, 11 a.m.

The DOE Loan Programs Office, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, and Office of Indian Energy will speak about programs available, funding and timelines, approaches to project selection and community engagement, as well as best practices. Panelists will also share a tribal case study.
