Science Museum Group

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Acting Assistant Secretary and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy (FE) Dr. Jennifer Wilcox, will participate as a panelist in a segment of the UK Science Museum Group Climate Talk Series. The event is titled “Our Future Planet: Global Greenhouse Gas Removal” on March 31, 2021 at 7:30 PM (GMT) / 3:30 PM (EST). The Science Museum Group is hosting a wide range of talks throughout 2021 that will connect the public with leaders, experts, activists, and campaigners using Q&A and panel discussions. The speakers will discuss how best to address the problems created by climate change.

The Science Museum Group plays a vital role in engaging the public on topics related to global challenges; the group explores the work of scientists, experts, and activists to seek solutions. Dr. Wilcox has extensive knowledge about carbon capture and storage (CCS) and other carbon mitigation and removal technologies. She wrote the first textbook on carbon capture back in 2012. She will discuss several innovative and collaborative examples of cutting-edge technology and nature-based solutions to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere.

Dr. Wilcox will represent FE at the event. She will describe DOE’s commitment to solving the problem of climate change. This includes minimizing the environmental impacts associated with our dependence on fossil fuels. Technological developments will be the driving factor to help us make the critical energy transition that is needed to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
