Carrie Meyer serves as the director for the Office of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement in the Department of Energy's Office of Environmental Management. She leads the complex-wide strategic communications program to educate, inform, and engage with various publics on EM's cleanup mission and nation-wide sites.
Meyer has 30 years of experience in communications, policy development, marketing, and public affairs in the government, engineering and nuclear power industries. Most recently, she served as the Hanford Site Communications Director, where she was responsible for engagement and communications of the nation's largest environmental remediation site. She has previously served as the acting Director for Public Affairs for the National Nuclear Security Administration, as well as previously serving in assignments supporting the Assistant Secretary of Energy for Environmental Management and the senior advisor to the Secretary of Energy, where she focused on communications, congressional interactions, tribal engagement and policy development and implementation.
Prior to joining DOE in 2007, Meyer worked for Bechtel National, Inc.; British Nuclear Fuels Limited, Inc.; Energy Northwest; and Jacobs Engineering. In these roles she focused on technical writing, marketing strategy and proposal development, brand development, public affairs and public involvement.
She holds a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in English and psychology.
