Promoting distributed wind. eFormative Options promotes understanding of policy options related to distributed wind.
Clean Energy Sector
With EERE support, eFormative Options is helping policymakers, utilities, advocates, and consumers evaluate the effectiveness of policies that promote distributed wind—wind turbines installed at homes, farms, and businesses. Distributed wind allows Americans to generate their own clean electricity and cut their energy bills, while preventing greenhouse gas emissions. Incorporating a customized feed from the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency, eFormative Options created a Web-based Distributed Wind Policy Comparison Tool (Policy Tool). The Policy Tool helps state, local, and utility officials understand the financial impacts of different policy options aimed at reducing the cost of distributed wind technologies. The Policy Tool can be used to evaluate the ways that federal and state policies and incentives impact the economics of distributed wind. eFormative Options and other project participants contributed $37,000 to this project.
The Wind Program is committed to developing and deploying a portfolio of innovative technologies for clean, domestic power generation to support an ever-growing industry.
The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) success stories highlight the positive impact of its work with businesses, industry partners, universities, research labs, and other entities.
