In this photograph, a building at Oberlin College incorporates features that lessen its impact on the environment. Energy efficient and environmentally friendly features includes: 4,682 square feet of photovoltaic panels, closed-loop geothermal wells that provide heating and cooling, daylighting, and a Living Machine—an engineered wastewater treatment system modeled on natural wetland ecosystems.
