Susanna Murley

Susanna Murley is the manager for the Strategy and Engagement team at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO), which supports the office’s strategic development and communications activities. Her team manages the office’s internal and external communications.

She joined the office in 2015 and brings expertise in communications strategy, government plain language, and stakeholder engagement. While at SETO, her team has won several communications awards, including three NAGC Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards, a Gold Award in the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals Hermes Creative Awards, and an Honorable Mention in PR Daily’s Digital PR & Social Media Awards.  

Prior to SETO, she held leadership positions at the Solar Energy Industries Association, the George Washington University, and other nonprofits. She has an M.A. in environmental resource policy from The George Washington University, an M.A. in English literature from the University of Delaware, and a B.A. in English and philosophy from Saint Olaf College.
