Robert L. Sandoli

Rob Sandoli is the deputy director of the Integrated Strategies Office in DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. He provides oversight and strategic advice on a crosscutting portfolio of nine programs that advance clean energy development, including strategic analysis, community energy support, and workforce development. 

He has served in a variety of leadership positions at DOE, the U.S. State Department, and the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). At DOE, he served as senior advisor to DOE's Under Secretary of Energy, director of EERE’s International Program, and director of the Office of European and Eurasian Affairs, among other positions. At the U.S. Department of State, he served as deputy special advisor for alternative energy, focusing on renewable energy finance and international cooperation on bioenergy development. As a program examiner at OMB, he oversaw a $1.4 billion portfolio of clean energy programs, helped to design and manage new clean energy initiatives, and guided the implementation of sustainability directives across all major Federal agencies. 

He is the recipient of 18 federal honors and awards for his work on energy, climate, and management initiatives, including two Secretary's Appreciation Awards at DOE, a Superior Honor Award from the State Department, and four OMB Special Achievement Awards. His experience also includes positions as a professional staff member in the U.S. Congress and as an environmental scientist at a large consulting firm. He holds degrees from Rutgers University (BS), Cornell University (MS), and the University of Maryland (MPP).
