Project Objective
The Remotely app uses smartphone technology that allows an energy professional or home occupant to collect data for a Home Energy Score™. The partners developing the app expect it to lower costs and enable better access to the Score in hard-to-reach areas. Remotely will use augmented reality algorithms and cell phone technology to collect key energy data about a home, which will then be validated by a certified home energy professional before a Score is produced. Goals for the app include improving the accuracy of the spatial measurements, shortening data collection, and providing greater traceability and documentation of the model assumptions. In addition to the Score, Remotely will provide detailed information about the retrofit work needed to improve a home’s energy efficiency, prior to a site visit by a contractor.
