Led by the Office of Energy Justice and Equity, the U.S. Department of Energy will host an on-campus engagement event with academic deans, faculty, staff, and students, to share and exchange ideas and resources supporting students in STEM educational fields. This event will be an open-house format on campus. The Arctic Energy Office will have staff at this event to share updates about our work and answer any questions about connecting with the Department of Energy.

The DOE Day series is being run by the Office of Energy Justice and Equity in support of White House Executive Order 14035. The event seeks to boost collaboration between the DOE and academic institutions intends to address workforce barriers that hinder the advancement of economic equity for underserved, underrepresented, and disadvantaged communities.

Objectives

  • Discuss the DOE mission and explore opportunities for collaboration to support student learning goals
  • Gather insight of faculty needs to support talent development and degree completion (mentorship, curricular development and funding, faculty fellowships and training/certificates)
  • Share short- and long-term goals supporting workforce development for underserved and underrepresented communities (community outreach, academic funding support, opportunities, and barriers)
  • Become aware of current and previous federal agency participation to determine where the DOE can assist and support on-going workforce development efforts.

  • 12pm - 12:55pm Meet and Greet Session with Academic Deans and staff

  • 2:30pm - 3:30pm Information Session with Students
  • 3:45pm - 4:45pm Student Networking and Career Fair
