Led by the Office of Energy Justice and Equity, the U.S. Department of Energy will host an on-campus engagement event with academic deans, faculty, staff, and students, to share and exchange ideas and resources supporting students in STEM educational fields. This event will be an open-house format on campus. The Arctic Energy Office will have staff at this event to share updates about our work and answer any questions about connecting with the Department of Energy.

Agenda: 

  • 12pm - 12:55pm DOE staff meet and greet with academic deans or representatives
  • 1pm - 2pm DOE staff meet with career services
  • 2:30pm - 3:30pm Information Session for Students 
  • 3:45pm - 4:45pm Relationship Building Workshop

The DOE Day series is being run by the Office of Energy Justice and Equity in support of White House Executive Order 14035. The event seeks to boost collaboration between the DOE and academic institutions intends to address workforce barriers that hinder the advancement of economic equity for underserved, underrepresented, and disadvantaged communities.  

Objectives

  • Discuss the DOE mission and explore opportunities for collaboration to support student learning goals
  • Gather insight of faculty needs to support talent development and degree completion (mentorship, curricular development and funding, faculty fellowships and training/certificates)
  • Share short- and long-term goals supporting workforce development for underserved and underrepresented communities (community outreach, academic funding support, opportunities, and barriers)
  • Become aware of current and previous federal agency participation to determine where the DOE can assist and support ongoing workforce development efforts
