The Puerto Rico Grid Resilience and Transition to 100% Renewable Energy (PR100) study led by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory will generate pathways to achieving resilient, reliable, and affordable electricity for all residents of Puerto Rico, which has committed to meeting its electricity needs with 100% renewable energy by 2050. With funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency through an interagency agreement with DOE’s Office of Electricity, PR100 is a stakeholder-informed study founded on community engagement and energy justice while leveraging the world-class expertise and infrastructure modeling capabilities of DOE’s National Labs, including Argonne, Lawrence Berkeley, Oak Ridge, Pacific Northwest, and Sandia.
The PR100 Webinar provided updates on progress made in the first six months of the study, including insights and considerations gained from stakeholder participation and four initial scenarios that offer technically- and economically-sound pathways to achieve Puerto Rico’s energy goals.
The event and live Q&A was moderated by the Hispanic Federation of Puerto Rico.

El Estudio de resiliencia de la red eléctrica de Puerto Rico y transiciones a energía a 100% renovable (PR100), dirigido por el por el Departamento de Energía Federal (DOE, por sus siglas en inglés) y Laboratorio Nacional de Energía Renovable (NREL), para generar la mejor ruta hacia energía resiliente, confiable, y asequible para todos los residentes de Puerto Rico, quien se han comprometido a satisfacer sus necesidades de electricidad con energía 100% renovable para 2050. Con financiación de la Agencia Federal para el Manejo de Emergencias (FEMA, por sus siglas en inglés) a través de un acuerdo con la Oficina de Electricidad del DOE, la PR100 cuenta con la participación ciudadana y justicia energética mientras aprovechando la experiencia de clase mundial y modelaje de infraestructura de los laboratorios nacionales del DOE, incluyendo a Argonne, Lawrence Berkeley, NREL, Oak Ridge, Noroeste del Pacífico y Sandia.
