Duties/Description:
This Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) position is in the Carbon Transport and Storage division in the Office of Carbon Management Technologies, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Carbon Management, Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM). The Division of Carbon Transport and Storage focuses on the infrastructure associated with the safe handling and transport of CO2 as it relates to decarbonization and meeting net-zero targets.
As a Carbon Storage Validation and Testing Program Manager (PM) you will:
- Support senior program managers with specific responsibilities related to planning, budget, management, and administration of the program. This includes stakeholder engagement, technical development, interagency and intra-agency coordination to support the development and implementation of the Program.
- Contribute to analysis to identify geologic formations, regions for hubs, future sources, and infrastructure that will support the development of the program and guide the investments of the BIL Program.
- Support coordination between the Department's efforts on other BIL provisions that are complimentary to the execution of the Carbon Transport, Validation and Testing Program.
- Contribute to coordination with the FECM research and development programs in support of ensuring the BIL Program leverages existing research, development and demonstration investments.
- Contribute to technical and programmatic support for FECM and Department's senior leadership as necessary, ensuring the Program is aligned with achieving office and departmental objectives.
Candidates should demonstrate the following:
- Experience with CO2 storage systems in geologic formations and transport infrastructures (pipeline, rail, truck, and shipping) to move CO2 from point sources to storage facilities.
- Experience in materials, ancillary equipment, design criteria, monitoring technologies, and safety requirements.
- Demonstration of leadership capabilities to the support senior staff in the design of local, regional, and national storage and transport infrastructure and the impacts of variable operations for sources, and balancing storage facilities across a transport and storage system.
