The U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Ocean Energy Management recently released a study that assesses the feasibility of ocean-based renewable energy sources that may be available to help Alaska decarbonize its energy supply, increase coastal resilience, and build energy security and independence. But how have these project teams gotten to this point? What comes next? And what will these projects mean to the communities themselves?

Angoon and Chignik Bay are among the many rural Alaskan communities leading the way in our state’s energy transition. And with the recent announcement of significant federal support for their communities’ run-of-river hydroelectric projects, Melissa Kookesh, Brooke Leslie, and Nathan Hill graciously agreed to join REAP for an in-depth discussion about these transformational community energy projects.

What: An in-depth discussion with Alaskan energy experts about the immense amount of renewable energy resources available in Cook Inlet and one developer’s ongoing efforts to harness them economically.
