Every year, the National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) convenes partners at its Annual Meeting to discuss how public and private sectors can work together to secure America’s energy supply. This year’s theme, “America’s Infrastructure: Deploying Energy Innovations for Economic Growth and Climate Action,” focused on actions needed to deploy clean energy solutions safely and efficiently as states race towards net zero emissions by 2050.
Kate Marks, Deputy Assistant Secretary for DOE’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER), joined the session titled, “Calculating, Assessing, & Addressing Cyber Risks to State Energy Security & Resilience,” to share how DOE is exploring new cybersecurity solutions for the nation’s evolving grid.
During her presentation, Deputy Assistant Secretary Marks provided an overview of recent policies to address grid vulnerabilities and highlighted several new DOE initiatives, including the launch of DOE’s new Clean Energy Cybersecurity Accelerator. The program is a technology partnership of federal experts, industry partners, and innovators to accelerate the development of groundbreaking cyber solutions for our clean energy future.
Secretary Granholm also made an appearance, emphasizing the importance of deep partnerships across government and industry as we battle the impacts of climate change. Here at CESER – that message holds true. Partnerships underpin everything we do.
