Elijah Johnson

Elijah Johnson is a senior at the University of Alabama majoring in mechanical engineering. This summer, Elijah created a mock financial plan for a coal-fired power plant while also investigating the economic impact of adding renewable and clean energy features. He hopes his project will prove that phasing out fossil fuels, in favor of renewable energy sources, can still bring a return in investment.

Elijah has always been interested in becoming an engineer and his previous internships at NASA only further fostered his engineering pursuits. Gaining more knowledge with his experience at MLEF, it has shown him the economic side of engineering. His true passion lies in studying thermodynamics and energy systems, which he hopes to implement in his future career. In his free time, Elijah is an enthusiastic volunteer, having volunteered at Asbury Church in Madison, AL and the Tuscaloosa Animal Shelter.
