The U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) is conducting a virtual workshop to discuss transformative technologies and strategies to substantially improve the performance (e.g. energy productivity, thermal efficiency, reduced GHG emissions, reduced number of process steps) of thermal processing systems in the industrial sector.

This workshop will leverage the unique collaboration capabilities of a virtual environment to identify and assess the opportunities for improved thermal efficacy, and the research and development (R&D) needed to overcome barriers to scale-up across a wide range of technology maturities and manufacturing scales.  

The workshop will bring together participants from across the board (universities/laboratories, industries, equipment manufacturers, technology vendors, NGOs, subject matter experts, etc.) to provide their expertise, insights and vision for significantly improved thermal operations across the U.S. industrial sector over seven sessions:
