Each year, the STAR (Science, Technology and Research) High School Fellowship program offers approximately 15 rising high school students going into their senior year the opportunity to be mentored by a scientist or engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. The program encourages students to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers before entering college.
The STAR program focuses on increasing access for under-served public high school students in the greater Albuquerque area. Under-served students are those who may not receive equitable resources in the academic pipeline, including students from low-income families, under-represented racial/ethnic minorities, and those who will be first-generation college students.
