
Jason Miller has been NNSA’s Acting Associate Administrator for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs since March 2022, previously serving as the Acting Associate Administrator for External Affairs. He is responsible for the agency’s Congressional Affairs and Intergovernmental Affairs Offices.
Mr. Miller had served as Deputy Associate Administrator for the Office of External Affairs since 2021. He previously served as Deputy Director for Congressional Affairs in 2019 and as Acting Director for Congressional Affairs from 2017 to 2018.
In his role as a senior leader in Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Miller has led all facets of NNSA’s external outreach, including supporting senior level congressional engagements, budget and hearing testimony and preparation, and managing the day-to-day operations of the high-paced Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs teams.
His Congressional Affairs team has achieved positive results for NNSA in congressional authorizations and appropriations, including ensuring authority to eliminate the ceiling on federal employees and lifting of excepted service restrictions—a top agency priority.
Prior to joining NNSA in 2016, Mr. Miller worked on Capitol Hill for nearly a decade, serving on the professional staff of the House Homeland Security Committee and in the Office of Congressman John McHugh.
Mr. Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations from the University of Rochester and a master’s in strategic security studies from the National Defense University’s College of International Security Affairs.
