Assessment of the Management and Operations of Nuclear Safety Issues at the Los Alamos National Laboratory
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Nuclear Safety and Environmental Assessments, within the independent Office of Enterprise Assessments (EA), conducted an assessment of the management and operations contractors’ management of nuclear safety issues at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The purpose of this assessment was to evaluate the issues management (IM) processes and their implementation relative to nuclear safety issues since EA and the DOE Inspector General identified significant weaknesses in IM at LANL in August 2015 and February 2016, respectively.
