Bioenergy Day Collage
How much do you know about Bioenergy? Did you know that bioenergy is used to create biofuels, known as sustainable aviation fuels, that are currently used in our commercial airlines?

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) is seeking applications for the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Technology Commercialization Fund (TCF) Base Core Laboratory Infrastructure for Market Readiness (CLIMR) Lab Call. Based on FY24, an estimated $30.1 to $36.8 million is expected to be available to fund projects solicited in this lab call pending FY25 appropriations and program direction. The total funding amount available will be applied once an official FY25 DOE budget is passed.

Researchers at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) funded Agile BioFoundry (ABF) and the Advanced Biofuels and Bioproducts Process Development Unit (ABPDU), have successfully scaled up a bio-based process that converts ethanol into a valuable precursor for consumer products, such as paints, coatings, and diapers. The researchers worked with industry partner, Industrial Microbes, to develop the technology.
Each year, the hydrogen community eagerly counts down the days to October 8. Why? Because 10/08 = 1.008, the same sequence of numbers as the atomic weight of hydrogen! And the U.S. Department of Energy is keeping the fun rolling all week long.
