The Department of Energy operates through a strategic structure of specialized offices, national laboratories, and field organizations designed to advance America's energy security and scientific leadership. Under the leadership of Secretary Wright and Deputy Secretary Danly, who oversee policy direction and day-to-day operations respectively, this integrated framework enables the DOE to fulfill its diverse missions from basic research to nuclear security, connecting expertise across disciplines to address the nation's most pressing energy challenges.

    The Office of the Secretary directly supports the Secretary of Energy, a member of the President’s Cabinet, in leading the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and carrying out its mission. The Deputy Secretary and the Deputy Secretary’s team are also members of the Office of the Secretary.
