Rio Grande LNG Project and Rio Bravo Pipeline Project; Kleberg, Kenedy, Willacy, and Cameron Counties, Texas

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a notice of intent to prepare an EIS that analyzes the potential environmental impacts of a proposal to construct and operate a liquefied natural gas export terminal and marine facilities on the Brownsville Ship Channel in Cameron County, Texas, and two parallel 140-mile-long natural gas pipelines from Kleberg County, Texas, to the planned terminal. DOE is a cooperating agency. DOE, Office of Fossil Energy, has an obligation under Section 3 of the Natural Gas Act to authorize the export of natural gas, including LNG, unless it finds that the export is not consistent with the public interest.
