Final Report Decontamination & Decommissioning of Interim Storage Facility 4654

This document provides the results of the Supplemental Fi Radiological Survey SSWA- AR-0009 (Reference 1) of the decommissioned Interim Storage Facility (TSF), Building 4654.

Decontamination and decommissioning of the Interim Storage Facility were completed. Activities included performing a detailed radiation survey of the facility, removing surface and imbedded contamination, excavating and removing the fuel storage cells.

The objective of the verification surveys was to validate that cleanup procedures and survey methods utilized by Rockwell/Rocketdyne were adequate.

Post Remedial Action Survey Report for Building 003

A post remedial action (certification) survey of the "hot" cave in Building 003 was undertaken at the behest of DOE, by the Radiological Survey Group of the Occupational Health and Safety Division, Health Physics Section of Argonne National Laboratory.

This document covers the removal of the suspect contaminated sanitary sewer line from Building 003.

The Hot Cave in Building 003 had been inactive since the close-out of the SNAP Program in GFY 1974. Prior to that time, the facility had been used for the analysis of SNAP fuel burnup samples and evaluation of irradiation experiments.

The Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL) located in the hills above Chatsworth, California has been in operation since the early 1950’s. The area designated as the Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC), Area IV of SSFL.
