Leaders from the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the European Commission (EC) made a Joint Statement on Enhancing Radioactive Source Security this week at the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) International Conference on Nuclear Security.
NNSA successfully executed a subcritical experiment in the PULSE facility at the Nevada National Security Site. The experiment was executed in partnership with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

This week, NNSA, the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Cabinet Office of Japan signed a memorandum of cooperation to conduct joint research and development in priority critical and emerging technology areas.

NNSA has reached separate bilateral agreements with partners in Japan and the Republic of Korea to cooperate under the Proliferation Resistance Optimization (PRO-X) program. The respective agreements were signed during NNSA Administrator Jill Hruby’s trip to the region.
