Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Dr. Dave Danielson addresses national industry leaders and stakeholders in his remarks at the 2015 AEMC Summit.

The Energy Department’s Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative (CEMI) was established to better leverage opportunities in clean energy and advanced manufacturing technologies for America. We recognize that collaboration is crucial for realizing continued clean energy manufacturing growth. Accordingly, CEMI is organizing summits all around the country to expand its partnerships and connect stakeholders to its key programs and resources.

Our latest summit, the American Energy & Manufacturing Competitiveness (AEMC) Northeast Regional Summit: Innovating for a Clean Energy Future, will be held on May 12 at the City College of New York. The AEMC partnership – established in 2012 – is a joint effort between the Department of Energy and the Council on Competitiveness. Registration is now open to take part in this fourth annual event.

The AEMC Summit will build upon a successful, progressive dialogue series that has been held across the country over the past three years. The AEMC Summits in 2013, 2014, and 2015 convened hundreds of CEOs, university presidents, national laboratory directors, and other clean energy manufacturing stakeholders from across the United States. The thought leadership and engagement at these dialogues has helped to inform numerous Energy Department contributions in the manufacturing sector, including new public-private partnership models, increased investment in breakthrough technologies, and new analytic insights into America’s manufacturing competitiveness.

This year’s gathering will bring together these prominent leaders from across the clean energy and manufacturing ecosystem to:

  • focus attention on the design and build out over the past four years of a revitalized clean energy innovation infrastructure and a range of public private partnerships based around the capabilities of the Energy Department’s national laboratories;

  • deliver new public-private partnership opportunities to promote energy efficiency, to adopt clean energy technologies, and to increase manufacturing investment, economic growth, and job creation; and

  • highlight regional successes in catalyzing clean energy manufacturing and innovation.

Dr. David Danielson, Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, and other thought leaders from the clean energy manufacturing sector will be discussing the most critical energy and manufacturing challenges and opportunities affecting U.S. prosperity, sustainability, and security.

The AEMC Northeast Regional Summit is open to the public and free of charge, but space is running out, so visit the CEMI Northeast Regional Summit web page for the full list of attendees, event details, and how to register. To learn more about the Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative, check out our website and sign up for breaking news email alerts.

Richard Kauffman, chairman of Energy and Finance for the state of New York, will deliver the keynote address at the AEMC Northeast Regional Summit. Named as New York's first "energy czar," Kauffman joined Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration in 2013 to oversee and manage New York's entire energy portfolio, including the state’s Department of Public Service, the New York Power Authority, the Long Island Power Authority, and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), where he has served as chairman since 2013.

Kauffman leads New York's comprehensive Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) initiative. REV includes regulatory reform to restructure the energy and utility industry, a 10-year commitment to support local renewable energy and efficiency markets through the proposed creation of the Clean Energy Fund, and other initiatives such as NY Green Bank and the $1 billion NY-Sun solar programs.
