Mary Hubbard

Mary Hubbard is a senior commercialization program manager within the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Office of Technology Transitions (OTT). In this position, she works with DOE program offices and national laboratories to develop and manage technology agnostic funding programs and activities seeking to bring impactful energy technologies to market such as the Technology Commercialization Fund (TCF).  

Prior to joining the OTT, Mary served as the technology-to-market manager within DOE's Building Technologies Office (BTO). In this position, she worked across the office to lead BTO's Technology to Market Initiative. This included several programs and activities to help researchers and innovators in the buildings space de-risk their technologies, products, and processes to make them more attractive to private investment along with helping them access the resources and develop the skills needed to make an impact in the buildings industry. In addition, Mary led the development of prize programming, BTO funding opportunities, and workforce initiatives focused on expanding and diversifying the pool of building scientists and entrepreneurs. 

Mary has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and a Master's of Public Affairs, both from Indiana University. She is also a Certified Energy Manager, LEED Green Associate, Project Management Professional, and Technical Project Officer.

Prior to coming to DOE, Mary worked in industry with Siemens Government Technologies, Inc. She oversaw a $300M+ portfolio ranging from large renewable energy generation construction projects to smaller building automation system and HVAC projects. The portfolio contained both appropriated dollar contracts and Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs). Mary also brings experience with utilities, local government as well as consulting.
