Jimmy "Mac" McMillian, was named Assistant Manager for Infrastructure and Environmental Stewardship (AMIES) for the Department of Energy-Savannah River in February 2019.
Mac is a member of the Senior Executive Service and comes to SRS from the Environmental Management (EM) Office of Safeguards, Security and Emergency Preparedness at DOE Headquarters. He managed a staff that assessed the capabilities and compliance of EM sites relative to security and emergency preparedness and had responsibility for DOE Headquarters' administrative security functions for EM employees. He also developed strategies for implementing DOE security and emergency preparedness policies and facilitated their coordination across all EM sites.
Prior to joining the Department of Energy, Mac served 31 years in the Air Force in multiple assignments including Director of Security Forces, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support. He was the focal point for ensuring physical security of nuclear assets and protecting resources from terrorism, criminal acts, sabotage and acts of war. Mac retired from the Air Force in 2009, having achieved the rank of Brigadier General. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, a Master's degree in Public Administration and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies.
