October 30th is National Weatherization Day, an opportunity to highlight the impact of the U.S. Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). In 1976, Congress established WAP to address the disproportionate energy burden on low-income households. Since its founding, WAP has helped more than 7 million households save money on energy costs and improve the health and safety of homes, as well as support jobs and small businesses.
"Thank you to the members of the nationwide weatherization network for your indispensable effort to make communities across the country safer and healthier and more resilient. I’ve been a really big believer in your work for a long time." - Jennifer M. Granholm, Secretary of Energy
