In March 2023, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) opened applications for up to $6 billion in funding to implement the Industrial Demonstrations Program and accelerate decarbonization projects in energy-intensive industries and provide American manufacturers a competitive advantage in the emerging global clean energy economy.

The first stage of this funding application process required Concept Paper submittals that were due on April 21, 2023. OCED will notify those who submitted Concept Papers in May or early June 2023 that they were either encouraged or discouraged from submitting a Full Application.

Full Applications for the Industrial Demonstrations Program Funding Opportunity Announcement were due on August 11, 2023. OCED has begun the Merit Review process to identify meritorious applications to the Industrial Demonstrations Program. The Merit Review process will evaluate applications based on the criteria listed in the Funding Opportunity Announcement. As a part of the Merit Review process, OCED may elect to interview certain applicants. Participation in an interview does not signify that the applicant will or will not be selected for award negotiations.

DOE looks forward to announcing the projects selected for award negotiations in early CY 2024. To receive future news alerts from OCED, including updates on the Industrial Demonstrations Program project selections, sign up here.
