The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) released two funding opportunities under the Carbon Capture Demonstration Projects Program.

In February 2023, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) opened applications for up to $1.7 billion in funding for the Carbon Capture Demonstration Projects Program that will demonstrate commercial-scale carbon capture technologies integrated with CO2 transportation and geologic storage infrastructure. The first stage of this funding application process required Letter of Intent submittals that were due on March 28, 2023, with Full Applications due on May 23, 2023.

On December 14, 2023, OCED announced projects selected for award negotiations following a rigorous Merit Review process to identify meritorious applications to the Carbon Capture Demonstration Projects based on the criteria listed in the  Funding Opportunity Announcement.

Under the umbrella of the Carbon Capture Demonstration Projects Program, DOE previously announced $189 million in funding for integrated front-end engineering design studies to support the development of community-informed integrated carbon capture, transport, and storage projects. OCED selected projects to begin award negotiations in May 2023.
