The United States Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Oil and Natural Gas Research, recently held a one-day Natural Gas Midstream Infrastructure Research and Development (R&D) Workshop to discuss future research needed for natural gas supply and delivery systems. The agenda included an overview of DOE’s current Midstream R&D and facilitated breakout sessions on specific subjects.

Topics discussed at this workshop included: advanced materials (pipelines), coatings and liners; data science and management (cybersecurity, HPC & sensors); pipeline inspection and repair and compressors; methane recycling– capture and recovery, recycling, direct use and methane conversion technologies; and gas hydrates.
